Not Your Mother's Pearls! Jewelry Trends for 2011

Pearls Take Center Stage
I've been reading a lot about jewelry trends in 2011, so I was excited to see Pearls taking center stage in looks ranging from workday style to wedding attire.  Pearls are pure classicism; they convey hope and simplicity, while reflecting the beauty of our natural world.  You can rarely go wrong in pearls...

However, the fashionistas say that in 2011, pearls will get a makeover.  Don't expect to see the single strand choker front and center.  From the ornate, to the massive, you'll see pearls in unusual shapes like teardrops and large balls, pearls are showing up everywhere.

That's great news at Dabchick Vintage Gems.  We just snapped up an amazing auction of fine vintage costume pearls from the 1940s to the 1970s.  I've restyled a number of these beauties; and some I've left unaltered.  Check out these jewels now available at Dabchick Vintage Gems on Etsy.

Fit for a Princess: Vintage Sapphire Costume Ring by Dabchick Vintage Gems on Etsy

Vintage Sapphire Ring
Vintage Costume Sapphire Ring Fit for a Princess

Last month, Kate Middleton, the future Princess Catherine, debuted her engagement ring at St. James's Palace in London. It's the same ring as Diana, Princess of Wales, wore in 1981. It cost £30,000 at the time and is made from 14 diamonds encircling a sapphire.

At Dabchick Vintage Gems, we've got a fantastic, brilliant, vintage costume sapphire  wedding or promise ring which looks quite similar to Kate's new engagement ring.  What's more, it's a lovely vintage cocktail ring in fabulous condition.

This ring is in excellent condition. On the shank you will see the Markers Mark (C & C) which is Clark and Coombs. This vintage ring is also stamped 1/30 14K RGP (rolled gold plate). And features lovely embossing on the back of the ring base.

The center stone (which has not been appraised) is multi-faceted, prong set and in excellent condition. In all, 13 rhinestones, all prong set, surround the center stone. All the stones are clear and faceted. This ring is a beautiful vintage piece very similar to the ring now worn by Kate Middleton, and the former Princess Diana.

Please note the ring is a size 6, for more petite hands, and it is not adjustable.

Here Comes the Bridal Cuff: Bracelets for Vintage Brides

Dabchick Vintage Gems
One of a Kind Vintage Pearl Statement Cuff

Lately I've been inspired by the many fabulous cuff bracelets popping up everywhere.

I decided to try my hand at making something especially for the bride looking for vintage style.  So over the holidays, I grabbed a few favorite antique pearl and rhinestone pieces, and purchased an auction of vintage costume pearls in preparation.  After several trial and error attempts, I finally got it together and I love the results.  Hopefully, a future bride will feel the same.

This cuff features antique pearl and rhinestone jewelry enmeshed in white and pearl vintage costume pearls.  A centerpiece silver, white pearl, and triple marquise rhinestone flower kicks off the party  Three rhinestone and pearl flower sprays and a vintage rhodium bird in flight accent the bracelet.

All in all, it was fun to make though I'm looking to streamline the process for future pieces.
